In our small lab in Bergen, we develop and produce skincare that is both fresh, effective and gentle on the skin. The formulations are made without traditional preservatives, with a clear focus on quality over long shelf life.
We produce in smaller batches to ensure the highest possible freshness, and create formulations where the active ingredients are allowed to work without too many unnecessary additives that can irritate the skin.

“In 2014, I founded RÅ Skincare with my oldest daughter, Amanda. As a cosmetic formulator, product developer, and manufacturer with over 22 years of experience, I have always been fascinated by ingredients, skin, and formulations — especially for sensitive skin.
My interest arose when two of my daughters developed atopic eczema as infants, while I myself became very sensitive to perfume after many years in the cosmetics industry.
These experiences have had a great impact on the development of RÅ Skincare and the philosophy behind our products.

Fresh skincare, made in small batches
We are proud to be the first in Norway with a freshness concept like RÅ Skincare. Instead of producing in larger batches that will last for several years, we make smaller quantities that are kept refrigerated.
Our products are made with little or no preservatives, and without harsh emulsifiers or perfumes. Refrigerated storage also helps to preserve the ingredients in their most potent form. This results in skincare that is fresh, pure and retains its full effectiveness, from production to use.
By reducing the need for preservatives and stabilizing systems, we also expose the skin to less stress. At the same time, this creates better conditions for working with the skin's natural balance, including through the use of pre- and postbiotic ingredients that support the skin's microbiome and strengthen the skin barrier.
Norwegian quality and safe ingredients
We develop our products in close collaboration with experienced chemists and toxicologists, sourcing active ingredients from some of the world's most renowned laboratories. Together we create safe skincare that combines Norwegian production with research, scientific documentation and a deep passion for good skin health.

RÅ is developed with ingredients that are recognizable to the skin, and substances it works well with.
In our formulations, we also use pre- and postbiotic ingredients, nutrients and bioactive components, which help support the skin's microbiome, strengthen the skin barrier and promote more robust and balanced skin.
Combined with the fact that the products are made without perfume, traditional preservatives and other potentially irritating substances, this makes RÅ particularly suitable for sensitive skin. It also helps prevent the skin from becoming sensitive over time. When we remove what the skin does not need, the good ingredients can work fully, without increasing the risk of irritation.
At the same time, this helps to reduce unnecessary impact on the skin's microbiome and support the skin's natural ecosystem.
Amanda's skin journey with sensitive skin and eczema
“Ever since I was a baby, my skin has required extra care – because I developed atopic dermatitis as a baby. My personal skin journey has given me a natural interest in skin health, and especially sensitive skin. Throughout my life, I have met many people who have felt desperate about skin problems like rosacea, acne or eczema.
I know that feeling – not feeling comfortable in my own skin and spending both time and money on products that don’t work. I’ve spent over 17 years in the cosmetics industry learning, exploring and developing solutions for people with challenging skin. This is what drives me in my work.
I have been fortunate to learn from some of the best in the industry. Sharing this knowledge is something I am truly passionate about. My biggest motivation is to help others. When I see how proper skin care can make a big difference, it gives me an enormous sense of joy and meaning. That is why we also collaborate with organizations like the Norwegian Psoriasis and Eczema Association. I want to spread knowledge and create confidence around skin health.
I want to help more people feel comfortable in their own skin – because everyone deserves to have skin they are comfortable with.”

Where is RÅ Skincare produced?
Yes. RÅ Skincare is developed and produced in Western Norway. Local production gives us good control over quality and makes it possible to develop skincare specifically adapted to sensitive skin and Nordic conditions.
Are the products vegan?
Yes, all our products are vegan and of course not tested on animals.
Does RÅ Skincare have SLS in its shampoos and soaps?
No, RÅ Skincare's shampoos and soaps do not contain SLS.
SLS, or Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, is a powerful detergent that is often used to create a lot of lather. For some people it works well, but for people with sensitive, dry or irritated skin, SLS can be drying and contribute to the skin feeling tight, itchy or more vulnerable. Our soaps lather well, but they are gentle on the skin and great for sensitive scalps.
We have therefore chosen milder detergent ingredients that gently cleanse the skin and hair, without stripping away too much of the skin's natural oils. This fits better with our philosophy of skincare for sensitive skin and a strong skin barrier.
Why do RÅ Skincare products need to be stored in the refrigerator?
We have taken a different approach than most skincare brands. Most skincare products are designed to withstand long-term storage, transportation, and extreme temperature fluctuations. This requires higher levels of preservatives and ingredients that stabilize the formulation over time.
At RÅ Skincare, we have chosen small-scale production and shorter shelf lives for our products. The result is formulas that are developed with special consideration for sensitive skin. The facial products should be stored in the refrigerator both before and after opening. This allows you to enjoy the purest skincare products on the market.
