4-step skincare routine for those with rosacea

Rosacea is a chronic inflammation of the skin that can cause redness, dilated blood vessels and sometimes a pimple-like rash. The skin can feel sensitive, sore and constantly irritated. It is also not uncommon to experience that the skin gets worse when you get very hot, such as in a sauna and in the sun on a hot summer day. Extreme cold such as ice baths, long ski trips outside in the winter can also trigger rosacea skin. Spicy foods such as chilli, caffeine and alcohol are some examples of foods that can trigger rosacea.

To live the best possible life with rosacea, it may be a good idea to find a balance where you avoid triggers as much as possible, have a balanced lifestyle with enough sleep and breaks in your daily life, while also using gentle skin care products that do not trigger rosacea outbreaks. If you are suffering a lot, it is important to be followed up by a dermatologist.

Skincare recommendation for you with rosacea

We recommend a short skincare routine with anti-inflammatory, soothing and building ingredients such as ectoine, squalane and ceramides. If you have rosacea under control that rarely flares up, you can add a mild serum to your routine. However, if you have flare-ups, you should stick to cleanser and cream. Here is a 3-step skincare routine that suits sensitive rosacea skin. The products contain soothing ingredients and are free of perfume and essential oils.

STEP 1: PURE LIPID CLEANSER

In the case of rosacea, an irritated skin condition with a weakened skin barrier, the skin should be given plenty of rest and it is important not to cleanse the skin too much. Double cleanse the skin in the evening if you have used makeup or sunscreen. Otherwise, cleansing the skin once is enough. This oil-based cleanser is fragrance-free and incredibly gentle on the skin. It removes makeup and sunscreen easily and effectively. Enriched with jojoba, squalane and vitamin E that nourish and soothe the skin. If you have a dry skin type that feels dehydrated and are over 30, you can cleanse your skin twice with Pure lipid cleanser and skip the next step in your routine. If you have skin that produces more oil, has large pores and is prone to acne, switch to a water-based cleanser in the evening.

STEP 2: PORE CLARIFYING CLEANSER

A gentle and unscented, but more deeply cleansing cleanser for combination to oily skin. The cleanser has a combination of cream and foam cleanser, which is more gentle on the skin than a pure foam cleanser. It is PH balanced and contains niacinamide and panthenol to calm sensitive skin. We do not recommend using a toner at the end. Skin with rosacea is sensitive and should not be overtreated - a two-step cleansing routine is more than enough.

STEP 3- ECTOIN LIGHT MOISTURIZER

This fragrance-free ectoin cream is known to calm sensitive and red rosacea skin. Light in consistency, slightly cooling and velvety against the skin. We believe one of the reasons why so many with rosacea get good results from this cream is that it is not only free of perfume, but also preservatives that can create an imbalance in the skin's bacterial flora.

STEP 4- SUN PROTECTION

Remember to finish with sun protection if you are going to be out in the sun a lot. As of today, we do not have any sunscreens in RÅ, but we recommend a perfume-free and mild sunscreen. Many people react to sunscreen, so we recommend that if you are inside and not sitting close to a window and working, you can wait to apply sunscreen until you have finished work and are going out for a walk. For short trips outside, a cap and large sunglasses are often enough if you live in Norway. But remember to wear sun protection when you are going outside!
